They also take their playerbase very seriously. A good few former fans of the games actually ended up being part of the AE staff into positions such as concept art, music production, cutscene animations, etc. Artix Entertainement are probably the pinnacle of game devs who will listen to their fans and take suggestions. It could be worked on a little bit for PC players but aside from that it's nice. Simplistic UI for cross platform appeal. I'll be taking pros and cons based off of what I said earlier about the project. I've been playing the game since it's tech demo / alpha stages, and it's come a long way. Some things may work, while others won't. Take this into consideration if you feel frustrated with how the game feels for now. (AQW, DragonFable, etc.)Īs others have mentioned, this is in an open beta stage. It's also run by an independant company with just under 50 or so staff members, who are also still maintaining and monitoring other AE games. This is a big step up from a company that previously released only 2D flash-based web browser games.įirstly, I'll state that the AQ3D project is aimed at being played cross platform PC, mobile phones & tablets. I've been a longstanding player of Artix Entertainement games. Just keep in mind that's it in beta, and it needs HEAVY polishing. I will be constantly playing this game and seeing what the developers will change about it.ĭo you want to play this game? Go for it, I'm not stopping you. In the events that this game does get better, and improves upon all the negative aspects I wrote above, I will definitely write another review. I didn't write this review just to diminish this game's reputation, I wrote it because I want this game to be good. This is why I cannot recommend it right now.ĭoes this game have potential? Do I have high hopes for this game? OF COURSE I DO! In the game's current state, the grind is tedious which makes the game boring. So enjoy having really crappy gear for a while. Due to the horrendous grind it's hard to farm for more gold. It's not worth spending gold on low-level gear because they cost so much to begin with, you'll outgrow them really quick, and you'll find objectively better gear way later. You go from an area where there are Level 7- 8 creatures to an area where there are Level 10 - 11 creatures? I guess we the players are suppose to grind more in the dungeons beforehand, but golly gee I wonder what's limiting my grinding! I see Level 8 players desperately trying to kill 1 skeleton because the transition between areas are too high. Progression is bad and EXP gain is low. "So you broke your back getting materials to craft that ancient rare sword? Give me half of what's in your wallet and come back in 24 hours!" You have to spend A LOT of gold just to craft an item, and on top of it all, you have to wait for the crafting to be finished. Well in this game, not only do you have to kill yourself over getting materials, they nickel and dime you over crafting the item itself. In most games, you already risk life and limb and spend many hours just to obtain the materials to craft the item you desperately want. The crafting system is absolutely horrendous. You recieve 1 dungeon key every several hours or so, making the grind even more "fun". Speaking of dungeons, you can only do 20 dungeon runs at a time. GRIND GRIND GRIND GRIND GRIIIIIND!!! Expect to repeat doing to same dungeon about gorillion times just to level up from Level 8 to Level 9, or to obtain a few hundred gold. Wow! An MMO that isn't Pay2Win! Holy smokes! The writing never takes itself too seriously and is self-aware. Cross-play! A gimmick that's never touched by anyone and I'm glad to see an ambitious idea actually becoming a reality. Developers reward it's players and are very generous when it comes to appreciating it's fanbase. This is a quality I 100% admire epsecially since nowadays developers never take advice from the people who actively play their product, which leaves said product to crash and burn. Developers constantly listens to the community. I backed this game on Kickstarter and I am currently an Epic Founder for this game. Played Battleon back in 06, Played AQW during it's Beta back in 08 and still continue to play it every now and then despite not liking it's current state. Here's my ethos before I continue: I've played Artix's games for many years. I wish I could write a more positive review, but I can't lie to myself or to the developers and players.
